Surah Yasin — سُورَةُ يَسِن — is the 36th surah of the Quran, comprising 83 verses. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Yasin. Whoever reads Yasin, Allah ﷻ writes for him the reward of reading the Quran ten times.” (Tirmidhi 2887 — scholars note discussion of the chain strength, though the practice of reciting it for the dying and the deceased is widespread and supported by multiple narrations). It tells the story of three messengers sent to a city that rejected them, and the man from the farthest part of the city who ran to affirm the messengers and was killed — and entered paradise, saying: “Would that my people knew what my Lord has forgiven me and made me of the honoured.” (36:26-27). It then makes the case for resurrection through the analogy of dead earth brought to life by rain (36:33).
